In the Spring of 2010, a group of like minded individuals came together over their love of music to form The Bunk Johnson Brazz Band. Although relatively new to the scene, all members are seasoned musicians and natives of New Iberia, Louisiana. Band members include:
Dwalyn Jackson (bandleader/trumpet), Francis Williams (trumpet), Murray Jackson (trombone), Andre Colbert (trombone), Michael Bradley (saxophone), Jamal Broussard (sousaphone), Andre Rochelle (snare drum/percussion), Kevin Bradley Sr. (bass drum/cymbal/percussion), and Kevin Bradley Jr. (bass drum/cymbal/percussion).
The Bunk Johnson Brazz Band is committed to upholding the tradition of brass bands while incorporating modern music into its performances. Featuring musicians like Louis Armstrong and their namesake Bunk Johnson, the band combines traditional Jazz with styles like R&B, Soul, and Mardi Gras to form its own unique blend of music. This mix draws in people from all types of musical backgrounds, from pop to improv. They are not afraid to take risks for the sake of music, and that’s what makes this band memorable.
